Hey-oh friends! How about a little D.I.Y. action? I haven’t shared a good D.I.Y tutorial since summer (when the natural light was endless and I was working part time). But, now I have myself a new nifty set of studio lights and so it’s always daylight in my house now. Ballin’!
Today we’re going to mix up these crazy easy coconut coffee scrubby bars. As most of us know, coconut oil has endless benefits including having anti-inflammatory properties, helping to maintain our skin’s lipid content and being hydrating.
Coffee, besides being an elixir of the Gods, is actually good for your skin. More and more beauty companies have been incorporating caffeine into their products because of its many benefits including helping to reduce the appearance of cellulite, tightening skin, brightening the skin, and fighting free radicals. Plus, using it in the ground coffee bean state gives the additional benefit of being a great exfoliant.
I’ve used a coffee scrub in the shower before, but find these to be so much easier since they are in the bar form.
What you’ll need: 1 part ground coffee beans, 2 parts organic coconut oil, muffin tins (or some type of mold) and essential oil (optional)
Microwave that bad boy. BAM magic, it’s liquid now.
Add in one part ground coffee beans (so I used 1/2 cup), and mix well. Holy goodness, smells like sunshine and magic up in here!
When it is time to use, grab one and head to the shower! Rub in circular motions onto your skin and then rinse well. I suggest doing this at night as the coconut oil leaves a oily residue that lasts about 20 minutes after you get out of the shower. After 20 minutes it absorbs into the skin leaving you feeling hydrated and happy. These little bars leave my skin feeling so soft and and invigorated! Plus, it smells like heaven when you’re showering.
What’s your favorite beauty D.I.Y?
