Different Ponytail Style Ideas

We all know the beloved ponytail; simple, easy, effective. However, the traditional ponytail, while convenient and fast, isn’t always the cutest.  SO, today I’m sharing  four different ponytail styles to jazz up the traditional pony.  These are perfect for the upcoming spring weather!

The best part is, all of these can be done with TWO simple tools, a hairbrush and some hair ties,  I used Goody products from Target. I’m using the Goody Ouchless hair ties because they don’t have any metal and so they never snag on your hair or hurt to take out. Plus, they offer 10x more ponytails per elastic! Make sure to check the Cartwheel app for any current Goody offers like this one running now: 40% off Goody Elastics! (4/22-4/23) Check the app continuously for any on-going deals!

For my brush I picked up the Goody Clean Radiance Cushion Brush, designed with copper bristles to add shine to the hair and to work through the hair to reduce buildup and restore your hair’s natural moisture balance. The large cushion paddle and bristles also make it easy to brush my hair without getting any snags or tangles. Different Ponytail Ideas - Braided Ponytail

Different Ponytail Ideas - Braided Ponytail How To

The Side Braid Pony

A SUPER simple way to add something fun to your ponytail.  Simply section off a piece of hair on one side and braid it going backward. Secure with a thin Goody hair tie in your hair color, to hide it.  Then simply pull the hair all into a ponytail! How easy was that?!

Different Ponytail Ideas - Perky Ponytail

The Perky Pony

The trick to a perkier ponytail is to use TWO hair ties.  Starting with a Goody hair tie in your hair’s color, pull the top section of your hair into a ponytail (like if you were to wear it half up.)  Then, using a fun colored hair tie, ’cause why not, pull the bottom section of hair up, grabbing the top section and well, and secure it all into one ponytail.  The double hair ties will give the ponytail a more perky appearance.
Twisted Ponytail

The Twisted Ponytail

Pull your hair into three smaller ponytails, the top section, middle, and bottom.  Starting with the top section, create a hole at the base of the pony and pull the tail through the hole from the bottom.  Continue this on the middle section, this time also pulling through the first section as well. And, finally, do the bottom section pulling all three sections through.

Different Ponytail Ideas - fishtail Ponytail

Fishtail Pony

Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure with a Goody hair tie.  Fishtail braid the entire pony (you can also do a  regular braid, but I think the fishtail ones look more delicate.) Secure at the bottom with a thin hair tie, and viola!

There your have it, four different ponytail styles to try out next time you need an easy hairstyle!
