As some of you may know I’m currently on a little vacation in California.  To kick off our trip we were attending the 2014 Breeder’s Cup at Santa Anita Racetrack.  (if you follow me on the instagram machine you’ve seen all my #butfirstcoffeetravels) One thing I always like to do before a special event (especially somewhere sunny!) is give my feet some love with a pedicure.
Now, here’s a little fact about me: my ankles are the most ticklish part of my body.  No, not my feet, like a normal human being, my dang ankles.  I don’t like people touching them in anyway. This, as you can imagine, makes getting pedicures risky business.
This is why I’ve become a strong at-home pedicure lover. I can give my feet the TLC they need, without worrying about accidentally kicking the nail technician in the face because she grabbed my ankle the wrong way.  So, I’m going to share with you my step-by-step process for the perfect at home pedicure.
Step One: Remove any old polish. Trim, file and buff.  I use a high grit file, as you can see above, and then buff with a much lower grit.
Step Two: Soak! Giving your feet a nice soak is not only a luxurious little treat but also a great way to rejuvenate tired feet and soften dry skin.  You can also indulge in a bath, which is what I did, and why there are not any photos (’cause this ain’t that kinda blog.)  The warm water helps to soften the skin as well, preparing for the next step.

Step Three: Exfoliate. I use the Amopé Pedi Perfect which helps to buff away dry skin, leaving my usually dry feet feeling soft and and smooth.

Step Four: Moisturize. You always want to moisturize after any exfoliation, and feet are often neglected when we apply our daily moisturizer, so don’t leave it out with your at-home pedi! I use the Amopé Foot Cream in conjunction with the Pedi Perfect.  It’s a cream designed specifically for your feet!

Step Five:  Polish!  I’ve always struggled to get the perfect toe polish application on my own toes, but have learned through practice.  My best tip is the place the brush in the center of the toenail and gently push back and stop just before you hit the cuticle.  Then swipe slowly up one side, staying clear of touching the side, and then swipe up the other side.  When in doubt, you can always come in with a q-tip and nail polish remover later.
Step Six:  Don’t forget the top coat!
Step Seven: Admire your pretty little piggies!

Amopé, Portuguese for “love your feet”, is a new brand enabling women to respect their feet.  I picked up my Pedi Perfect and the matching moisturizer at Target.

It’s not sold near the nail care but over in the foot care aisle.   Also, Target has a few deals if you purchase an Amopé Pedi Perfect.  From 11/2-11/8 you can use this coupon and get 10% off your purchase.  And, from 11/9-11/22 they are offering a $5 Target gift card when you buy an Amopé Pedi Perfect.
