Save Money When Buying Makeup

save-on-makeup

Today’s post is a little belated, considering the corresponding video went up over two weeks ago, but I blame wedding/honeymoon. Which seems like a fair excuse. Today I’m sharing some of my FAVORITE tips for saving money when you’re buying makeup.  There is nothing worse than spending more money on something than you have to. And, as a beauty-obsessed gal, I am always searching for ways to save my wallet when purchasing. So, I put together my best tricks to save money on makeup and beauty products!

1. Split with friends

More often than not, many products you buy actually come with way more of the product you can use up before it goes bad or expires. So, try picking up a bunch of those small travel containers and then get together with your girlfriends and pick up a bunch of products and split them among you! This works great for things like lipsticks (you can pop these into pans), loose powders, primers, foundations, gel liners, perfumes, and more!

2. Take advantage of stores with good points systems.

In my opinion CVS and Ulta have the best reward system. Both give you points (Ulta on everything you buy, CVS on specific brands every week) that you can exchange for straight up MONEY to spend in the store. Other reward systems are good offering coupons, free products, etc. But, if it were up to me, the best option is money I can spend on whatever I want.

3. Know your stores.

Makeup stores like Ulta and Sephora put the most expensive products at eye level- because they want your money. Make sure when you are browsing, that you are looking above and below eye level for the deals!

4. Before buying online, check RetailMeNot for coupons.

It’s a free app on your phone and saves me money ALL THE TIME!

5. Take advantage of stores with good return policies.

Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Macy’s, CVS, Rite-Aid, Walmart, Walgreens, and Target will all allow you to return beauty items that have been opened and used once or twice. Nothing worse than spending money on a product you hate or doesn’t make your skin tone.

6. Shop informed.

If you’re shopping for specific products, always do a little research first. There are A LOT of brands and products, and once in the store it’s easy to get overwhelmed. So, read some reviews before hand, do a little research, and have an idea of which products you’re thinking to get.

7. Last tip is for Sephora exclusively.

It’s a little known fact Sephoras inside of JCPenney’s always have the best clearance sections- so scope them out for the best deals!
